World´s Top Restaurants (Michelin starred)

1 – Überfahrt – Germany  estrela-arredondada estrela-arredondada estrela-arredondada

( 3 Michelin Stars)  This restaurant is unique . We´ve been to every famous top-ranked restaurant in France  and so it sounds strange for us to recognize Christian Jürgens from Germany as our world´s  favourite chef. All his creations have an interesting target of reaching a wide spectrum of scents and tastes at the same time. And they are combined in such a way you can´t separate or distinguish them …. 2 – Guy Savoy – France  estrela-arredondada estrela-arredondada estrela-arredondada
( 3 Michelin Stars ) This guy is a true genius. His food is inventive, colorful and always delicious. We´ve been several times to Guy Savoy, joining big family parties in Paris. The  famous recipe of truffle and artichoke soup is mind blowing while the caviar with smoked sabayon triggers a flavor feast inside our mouth. It´s the Best restaurant in Paris and worth the experience.

3 – Schwarzwaldstube – Germany  estrela-arredondada estrela-arredondada estrela-arredondada
( 3 Michelin Stars )  One of the best restaurants in the world. Once with a 15 months waiting line, now a bit more accessible, this restaurant stands in the heart of the Black Forest, in Germany. Forget whatever you may know about German food. This place has incredible perfect harmonized dishes, one of the best we´ve ever had. The smoked fish trilogy was the best ever cold entrée we had. We do recommend it.

4 – Prés de Eugénie – France  estrela-arredondada estrela-arredondada estrela-arredondada
( 3 Michelin Stars ) Worth every kilometer of highways driving to meet the wonderful cuisine of Michel Guérard. He was one of the inventors of the “Nouvelle Cuisine” many years ago and also the creator of the “Cuisine Minceur”. The restaurant is more or less far from every touristic hotspot and we reached it from San Sebastian in Spain. No words to explain how good this is. We definitely recommend the long trip.

5 – El Celler de Can Roca – Spain  estrela-arredondada estrela-arredondada estrela-arredondada
( 3 Michelin Stars ) The Roca Brothers give their hearts and souls to keep up the high-end reputation of the Can Roca. And they are true rock stars of haute cuisine. You will need patience over some months until you get a reservation. In many cases, it maybe years. But this is definitely worth. The technologic fusion food they produce is both pleasant to the palate and to… (read more inside the video)

6 – Le Cinq – France  estrela-arredondada estrela-arredondada estrela-arredondada
(3 Michelin Stars ) This restaurant is located inside the iconic George V Hotel, surrounded by it´s marvelous architecture. We got amazed with the light and fresh summer menu that kept up rich textures and creamy flavours at the same time. All dishes has caused extremely good impressions to all of us and this is clear that things are much better this time, since Chef Christian le Squer took it over. It definitely deserves more visits.

( 3 Michelin Stars ) Chef Yannick Alléno is always reinventing himself while heading many reputed restaurants around France. His cuisine is delicate and detailed. The wintertime in Courchevel requires some creamy and rich textures which he combines with local Savoie herbs and truffles to compose complex tasty dishes. The wine pairing was extremely sophisticated… (Read more inside the video)

8 – L´Atelier de Joël Robuchon – France  estrela-arredondada estrela-arredondada
( 2 Michelin Stars) It should be a three-star restaurant considering the superb food.  The only reasonable cause for not carrying a third star is simply because it is  more casual. Chef Joël Robuchon makes things look easy.  Classy and delicious dishes always perfect.  Consider arriving at 18:30 if you want to get a table. And then just close your eyes and ask for the long menu dégustation . This will never be a mistake. Worth many visits!

9 – Gordon Ramsay – UK  estrela-arredondada estrela-arredondada estrela-arredondada
( 3 Michelin Stars) I regard Mr. Gordon Ramsay as the sole Englishman who may figure between the world´s top Chefs. And he truly deserves it. He runs many restaurants worldwide very efficiently as well. At his main place in London he shows his best. Always great and inspiring dishes, combining ingredients and flavours from the whole planet. The starters are remarkable. We have returned here every time we stay in London. Worth a visit!

10 – Le Meurice – France  estrela-arredondada estrela-arredondada estrela-arredondada
( 3 Michelin Stars ) Le Meurice is a traditional meeting place for heads of state in Paris, always catching media attention. It is in fact one of the best restaurants in Paris, not to mention it is definitely the most beautiful. The menu degustation that Chef Yannick Alléno has prepared was very extensive and some of us didn´t reach the last dessert.  Dinning here is such a nice experience that we could even die for!

11 – L’epicure – France  estrela-arredondada estrela-arredondada estrela-arredondada
( 3 Michelin Stars ) L ´Épicure is located inside one of the most prestigious hotels in France, Le Bristol.  Excellent food and service. We took a long menu with wine pairings that were impressive. The deserts left in our minds a memory of a true perfection.  In 2014, when this picture was taken, this restaurant was awarded the world´s best restaurant. It was a pity we didn´t take a picture with Eric Frechon. We do recommend it.

12 – Georges Blanc – France  estrela-arredondada estrela-arredondada estrela-arredondada
( 3 Michelin Stars)  Amazing food and atmosphere. Chef Georges Blanc is an artist and he is worth all his experience and reputation. Try the local specialty, La Volaille de Bresse. It is located in a tiny and beautiful village called Vonnas , on the way to Genève.During one of our visits there, the chef surprised us with a nice hand drawing he made at our table in a few seconds, over the menu. He is very a skillful man.

13 – Osteria Francescana – Italy  estrela-arredondada estrela-arredondada estrela-arredondada
(3 Michelin Stars )  The well reputed restaurant from Modena reached the #1 position in The World´s 50 Best Restaurants for the second time. It took us many months of efforts until we finally got a table here. Actually we needed the Chef´s Help. This tiny restaurant offers many variations over the traditional Italian cuisine.  Chef Massimo Bottura does some sophisticated cooking techniques to renew our perspective on the original “la Nonna” recipes, creating unexpected looks and textures. This was a nice experience!

14 – L´Auberge de L´Ill  – France  estrela-arredondada estrela-arredondada estrela-arredondada
( 3 Michelin Stars ) The best restaurant in Alsace is also one of the best in France. This restaurant is among the top long lasting 3 stars in the world, but recently the Haeberlin family lost one of its stars. So sad. Superb wine and food, especially the foie gras. The local Alsace influence gives a certain lovely identity to the dishes. We loved it.

15 – Quince – USA  estrela-arredondadaestrela-arredondadaestrela-arredondada
(3 Michelin Stars) Qunce is the only restaurant in California that may stand at the same level as the best Europeans. It has a French/Italian mainstream with some local Californian influence. We have actually got very well impressed with  the rich vegetable combinations of the entrées, that Chef  Michael Tusk has created for the summer.  The U.S. locally produced cheeses and caviar are still one step below the Europeans, though. San Francisco is probably the best place to eat out in the U.S and Quince is a must go.

16 – D.O.M. – Brazil  estrela-arredondada estrela-arredondada
(2 Michelin Stars) Chef Alex Atala is our favourite chef in South America. We always come to this place whenever we are in São Paulo.  He has some special secrets from wild remote parts of Brazil, including ingredients you have never even heard about. Also lots of imagination. And everything tastes so damn good! There is a dish seasoned with Amazon ants! The flavour looks like lemon grass.  A night at D.O.M is possibly the best thing to do in São Paulo.

17 – Piazza Duomo – Italy  estrela-arredondada estrela-arredondada estrela-arredondada
( 3 Michelin Stars)  Italian cuisine out of the box. Very creative, chef Enrico Crippa runs a small restaurant with fantastic surprises. We came during the Tartufo Bianco ( White Truffle ) season in November, but this is a very hard goal, as the tiny city of Alba becomes a main target for gastronomic tourists from everywhere. So if you are persistent and lucky, try the Menu Tartufo, and you will have a deep experience into the characteristic fresh white truffle profound scents and its subtle combinations. By the way, we will definitely come back again.

18 – Maison Troigros – France  estrela-arredondada estrela-arredondada estrela-arredondada
(3 Michelin Stars ) Michel Troigros is the head chef of the traditional and worldwide reputed Troisgros Family. He kindly took us for a visit tour inside his wonderful kitchen. The seasonal menu dégustation combined some classical and some nouvelle cuisine dishes. Out of the main routes, in the city of Roanne near Lyon, Maison Troisgros is worth a weekend driving from Paris.

19 – Gästehaus Klaus Erfort – Germany  estrela-arredondada estrela-arredondada estrela-arredondada
(3 Michelin Stars )  Gästehas Klaus Erfort is in a smart townhouse setting in Saarbrucken in the west of Germany. We took a small 5 courses menu that included classics from the Saarland region. A very conservative meal with no extraordinary  inventions, but all the courses were perfectly elaborated and very tasty. Klaus Erfort was one of the youngest Chefs to receive the 3 stars award. Germany is definitely a place for gourmands.

20 – Lasarte – Spain  estrela-arredondada estrela-arredondada estrela-arredondada
( 3 Michelin Stars)  Chef Berasategui is one of the famous Basques in the gastronomy world. Actually the Basque Country holds one of the world´s highest rates of Michelin Stars per capita. 21 – The Waterside Inn – UK  estrela-arredondada estrela-arredondada estrela-arredondada
(3 Michelin Stars)  Nice and beautiful place, along the side of River Thames, in the charming city of Bray. Try to book it for lunch time when you can better enjoy the wonderful views. The  food was superb, standing at the top of the top of all restaurants in the U.K.  Local recipes meet international cuisine in perfect harmony. Worth a trip from London. We made it in a sunny weekend and we had a great time.

22 – The French Laundry – USA  estrela-arredondada estrela-arredondada estrela-arredondada
(3 Michelin Stars) We were very curious to finally try a Thomas Keller ´s restaurant for the first time, We then decided to join the French Laundry 25th anniversary celebration, for its special Menu where all the famous Chef´s past creations were gathered, in a long 10 courses dining menu. The Californian ingredients blending into some traditional French courses were nothing special, but the meat courses were fantastic, including the best ever duck breast we have tasted. At the end we must say that this is an extraordinary restaurant, but not enough to stand at the top positions on our list.

23 – L´Ambroisie – France  estrela-arredondada estrela-arredondada estrela-arredondada
(3 Michelin Stars)  L´Ambroisie is a very traditional place in Paris, among the haute cuisine lovers. Besides the food, this extends to the furniture and to the surroundings, at the iconic Place de Vosges. The restaurant is actually located inside a beautiful 16th century building. We tried many of the French classics and the food was excellent, but the best was the Feuillantine de Langoustines served with sesame and curry. The Soufflé Chaud is a must! Worth the visit.

24 – L´Astrance – France  estrela-arredondada estrela-arredondada estrela-arredondada
(3 Michelin Stars)  It was pretty hard to book this restaurant!. We tried hard for three years, before we finally got a table at l´Astrance. The service was a bit slow to, but the food was good and very innovative and unexpected. The atmosphere is very modern and interesting. Worth the experience. The place has recently lost one of the Michelin stars.

25 – Paul Bocuse – France  estrela-arredondada estrela-arredondada estrela-arredondada
(3 Michelin Stars ) Paul Bocuse means history. ( He has sadly passed away a few years ago) He was the world´s long lasting chef at the top, as he carried the 3 Michelin stars for over 50 years now. He was still receiving the clients at the front door at the age of 90. Many of his past inventions now make part of the French cuisine. And you can try the original ones here.  Worth a trip from Paris to Lyon.

26 – Bernard Loiseau – France  estrela-arredondada estrela-arredondada estrela-arredondada
( 3 Michelin Stars ) In memory of Bernard Loiseau, the chef who unfortunately  killed himself after suffering from his thoughts of losing one of his Michelin stars. Once the Burgundy temple of gastronomy, the restaurant afterwards lost  one of the stars in fact, but only many years after the incident. The best boeuf bourguignon we´ve ever had was here. Wonderful recipes and fantastic tasty food.

27 – Arzak – Spain  estrela-arredondada estrela-arredondada estrela-arredondada
(3 Michelin Stars ) In the heart of the Pais Basco, in Spain. The city of San Sebastián has 3 Michelin triple-starred restaurants, but only 190 thousand inhabitants. The locals love eating and love the high cuisine. There were very nice and creative dish presentations in Arzak, that even seem to interfere in your taste perception, but the food itself stood one degree below the aesthetics. Worth a visit.

28 – Lasserre – France  estrela-arredondada estrela-arredondada
( 2 Michelin Stars ) Lasserre is an Institution in Paris. The famous retracting ceiling makes the place one of the top romantic restaurants in Europe. Dinning under the stars is a nice experience. This was the place my family used to meet every year in October. The dishes follow the -now classic -French nouvelle cuisine, always prepared  with perfection.

29 – Enoteca Pinchiorri – Italy  estrela-arredondada estrela-arredondada estrela-arredondada
( 3 Michelin Stars ) Enoteca Pinchiorri is very traditional . The restaurant makes a contemporary approach over the Tuscan cuisine, with wonderful recipes. The variety of local ingredients and flavours brings you out of the Italian stereotype pasta and tomato dishes. The food is superb, but the wine is a chapter apart…(Read more inside the video)

30 – Heston Blumenthal – UK  estrela-arredondada estrela-arredondada
( 2 Michelin Stars ) Chef Heston Blumenthal from the Fat Duck runs this restaurant in Central London. It is located inside the Luxury Mandarin Oriental Hotel with magnificent views to the Hyde Park. A light version of Fat Duck´s menu with some intersections. One of the desserts came out of an instant small ice cream machine making deserts live at our table. Nice experience.

31 – Lung King Heen – Hong Kong  estrela-arredondada estrela-arredondada estrela-arredondada
( 3 Michelin Stars ) Hong Kong´s best restaurant brings the classical Cantonese dishes and the typical serving style. We have tried the huge King Prawns in different preparations. The views are spectacular. Lung King Heen is one of the first restaurants in Asia to reach the 3 Michelin stars. Consider booking Lung King Heen if you are going to Hong Kong.

See the video:

32 – Lucas Carton (Le Senderens)  estrela-arredondada estrela-arredondada
( 2 Michelin Stars ) Once a top 3 starred Restaurant in Paris, ran by the famous Chef Alain Senderens who unfortunately lost his 3 Michelin one by one. He actually died a few years ago .It was a pity as it was one of the first superstar chefs we´ve been to and one of our favourite restaurants in France.

See the video:

33 – Ledoyen  estrela-arredondada estrela-arredondada estrela-arredondada
( 3 Michelin Stars )  Another true institution in Paris. Ledoyen has a continued international reputation in French gastronomy. We have had the longest – and one of the best – wine pairings ever, to match some exquisite ingredients and dishes. Chef Yannick Alléno likes to combine many different cultures in a single – and very complex- recipe. But sometimes he also  defines a common theme between different dishes. So  Interesting.

34 – Don Alfonso 1890  estrela-arredondada estrela-arredondada
( 2 Michelin Stars ) This is the best restaurant in southern Italy. Located in the idyllic Costiera Amalfitana, the  restaurant stands on some very ancient Etruscan ruins. Amazing place. The Iaccarino Family has been running this restaurant since the nineteenth century. Some of the ingredients are locally produced such as the perfect tomatoes used in the pasta sauce.  Italian sophisticated food made with advanced techniques preserving the authentic “de la nonna” flavors.

35 – Pierre Gagnaire  estrela-arredondada estrela-arredondada estrela-arredondada
( 3 Michelin Stars )  We only attended Pierre Gagnaire once. We had a big trouble with our reservation, that simply disappeared from the list. At the end the problem was reverted into a lucky event,  as we were invited to join the chef´s table inside the Kitchen, where we actually had the dinner. That was an amazing experience !.The dishes and the wines were incredible.

36 – Le Petit Nice Passédat  estrela-arredondada estrela-arredondada estrela-arredondada
( 3 Michelin Stars)  Le Petit Nice is one of a few restaurants to win three Michelin stars in the French Riviera. Chef Gérald Passédat runs this restaurant that has 100 years of existence. The dishes are delicious specially the fresh summer starters. Spectacular views between the sea and the sky make a perfect place for lunch in a sunny day.

37 – Mirazur  estrela-arredondada estrela-arredondada estrela-arredondada
( 3 Michelin Stars )  Mirazur stands in Menton, near Monaco. The Argentine Chef Mauro Colagreco plants some of the local Mediterranean ingredients at the restaurant´s private  garden, but for us, the home made bread was the best part.  The seasonal menu is classified as “from the sea”,  “from the garden” or “from the earth” . Interesting.  Mirazur has been standing at the top ten positions in the famous award ” The World´s 50 Best Restaurants

See the video:

38 – Alain Ducasse London  estrela-arredondada estrela-arredondada estrela-arredondada
( 3 Michelin Stars )  Alain Ducasse is one of the gods of international  gastronomy. The London branch has a different and more english taste approach. Many bitter flavours and local delights brought to dishes, to fit clients desires. We have tried some interesting exquisite vegetable sauce combinations.

See the video:

39 – L´Arpège  estrela-arredondada estrela-arredondada estrela-arredondada
( 3 Michelin Stars )  We had very good recommendations for L´Arpège . The day we went we received lots of attention from chef Alain Passard and it was a nice experience.”A taste of the real food” is his flag and the menu reflects this line with some simple recipes, cooked perfectly. Not my favourite kind as I do love complexity and reinventions.  But worth the visit.

See the video:

40 – Alain Ducasse Paris  estrela-arredondada estrela-arredondada estrela-arredondada
( 3 Michelin Stars ) I always need to say that Alain Ducasse is one of the gods in French gastronomy. There were beautiful arrangements and luxury environment inside the dining room at Plaza Athénée.  At the end we can say that we had nice wines and delicious deserts. But the food itself didn´t match the great expectations we would normally have, after visiting so many high-end restaurants for so long.

See the video:

41 – Pré Catelan  estrela-arredondada estrela-arredondada estrela-arredondada
( 3 Michelin Stars )  Standing in a sumptuous building within the Bois de Boulogne, the Pré Catelan has a huge international fame. It may be regarded for many as  a touristic attraction itself, but the food didn´t match our 3-star expectation. Worth a visit, especially to see the building and the furniture.
