When to go:  Summer, except for winter sports fans.

Where to go:  Helsinki and the Lakeland

Downside:  It can be cold and windy, even in the warm season.

Our Experiences:   We went to Helsinki as a base and made some trips by rental car. The city works perfectly with nothing to worry about. Helsinki has some nice architecture places such as the Temppeliaukio Church ( built inside the solid rock)  and the buildings signed by the famous architect Alvar Aalto.  In the Lakelands we loved the medieval castle at  Hämeenlinna, that is surrounded by lakes.  Finland is the country with the world´s highest amount of lakes ( An amazing total of 187,000! )

Hotels we love and recommend:  Radisson Seaside ( Helsinki)
